Music Trips

NOFM was originally set up to help students reduce their music trip costs. Through the years it has helped save tens of thousands of dollars on student trips. NOFM has reduced each student’s trip cost by $100-200 (depending on the year) and has been doing so for over 20 years!

Purchasing New Music

NOFM attendees have sponsored dozens of pieces of music for all of our ensembles. The Music Dept. has also used NOFM funds to help sponsor commissions through numerous commission consortium projects and our own commission of “We Are the Music Makers”

Education

BHS music students benefit from a variety musical guest visiting their class rooms.  Often these professors, composers, and professional musicians donate their time, but sometimes they request an honorarium, particularly when long travel/hotel stays are required.  NOFM money helps us say yes to these situations.

NOFM attendees have also donated music lesson and instrument rental scholarships to BHS students.

Equipment

Here is a list of some the many items that NOFM donations have supported to help students get a great musical education:

• Specialized keyboard, heavy duty stand, and sound system for the orchestra room

• 70+ music stands as well as a stand rack

• Guitar amp and amp case

• Bass amp and amp case

• Special piano carts that allow our pianos to be moved safely

• Numerous percussion mallets for a variety of instruments

• Money for the supplies to build a customized percussion storage system

• Replacement strings for school orchestra instruments

• Performance folders for most of our ensembles

• Garment racks to move choir robes, tuxedos, and gowns

• Replacement choir robes

• Timpani Stool 

• Bass Stools

• Snare Drum

• Microphones and microphone stands

• Sax mouthpieces

• Audio recording devices
